Eric Kendricks: From UCLA to LA Chargers a Candid Chat

Updated: Sep 9, 2023

In a recent YouTube video interview with Eric Kendricks on the Bolt Bros show, the LA Chargers linebacker shared his thoughts on returning to sunny California, his preparation process for challenging matchups, and more. Let's dive into the conversation and hear directly from Kendricks himself.

Kendricks expressed his excitement about being back in Los Angeles, saying, "For me, sunny California feels great. I'm just enjoying the Mexican food all year round. It's a little thing, but it's the way the sun hits you. I'm a Caliboy at heart, so I love it."

When asked about Brandon Staley's defensive scheme, Kendricks praised the flexibility it offers. He said, "I love that they put people in positions to be successful. We have so many playmakers on our team, and we get them moving around in ways that they can change it up and be successful."

Kendricks shared his process for mentally preparing for challenging matchups, stating, "I stick with my routine. First, I watch first and second down plays, then move on to third down. I like to read over the play calls as I'm watching the film, making calls with the film. It involves a lot of bodywork, taking care of my body during the week with massages, chiropractic treatments, and acupuncture."

In terms of physical preparation, Kendricks mentioned his weekly Pilates sessions, which help with balance, coordination, and core strength. When it comes to playing on turf at Sofi Stadium, he said, "There are times when you go to stadiums with heavy grass, and you may have to change cleats. But as far as turf is concerned, you just put those turf patches on the back and hope to avoid turf burns."

During a rapid-fire round, Kendricks revealed that Allen is the best singer on the team. As for the best dancer, he humorously admitted, "I don't know yet. I haven't seen anybody really dance." He also gave a shout-out to a teammate, Tito Ogbonnia with a great palate, appreciating the food culture in LA.

In conclusion, Kendricks left a message for the Charger fam, saying, "It's going to be an exciting season. Let's do it, let's go, Bolt Bros!" His enthusiasm and dedication to his craft are evident, and

Chargers fans have much to look forward to in the upcoming season.
